I am very excited to announce that my book If the Ocean Has a Soul has a cover! The editorial, design, and illustration teams at my publisher, Tyndale House, have done an amazing job. It has been both fun and educational to work with them and learn from their expertise.

I’ve received a lot of sweet and humorous feedback regarding the expressions of the animals… Which is your favorite? The quirky pufferfish? The determined dolphin? Or maybe the moody leopard shark?

If you’re interested in supporting me and my book, the most helpful thing you can do is to preorder. This is because the book industry at large places a high value on a book’s potential success by how it’s received early on (i.e. how many copies it sells). If a book has sales before it has officially hits the shelves, it signals to both suppliers and the book’s publisher that readers are excited about it. Suppliers will be more likely to order large quantities and publishers may be even more inclined to promote the title. This is the business side of publishing. And as an author, I have the privilege of straddling the line between these business logistics and the pursuit of creative artistry.
